Babette
July 16 2017
Babette now sports a pink tail. (Color is specifically made for pets and in no way harmful.) Babette and her Mom love the her new look.
When Janet brought Babette for the 4 hr. drive to her home here in Cornwall, she realized what bad shape Babette was in. She was matted to the skin almost everywhere. She used to swim in a creek and was never dried or brushed for 4 months. I first saw Babette September 30 when I had to shave her right down to the skin in most places, and then again the morning of Oct. 1 for a refreshing bath. Her little body would wriggle and worm about as the hair was released and her circulation returned. The Hydromassage and Mud shampoo invigorated and relieved her skin of the dirt and bacteria from the past four months. Then, during blow drying she would stick her side out towards the blow dryer because it felt soooo good. As time passed (a few weeks at most) Babette was scratching a lot. Babette even wore the "The Shirt of Shame" to stop her from making sores from scratching so much. This showed me two things. 1st - the oils in her skin needed to be replenished, and two - she might have allergies. I began Sugar Scrubs to alleviate her dry itchy skin. Her new Mom - Janet - started eliminating all Beef from her diet. Between Sugar Scrubs twice weekly for the past two weeks and a new diet, Babette is showing great improvement. She's now coming once weekly for the next two weeks for a Sugar Scrub . Her first groom will be in a few weeks, by then her hair should be long enough for a trim. I'll keep you updated. Below are pictures of her wearing The Shirt of Shame, waiting in the tub for her Sugar Scrub (you can see on her front legs where she has been biting), waiting while her sugar scrub sets for 5-10 min. (she really enjoyed the taste - good thing it's all natural and can't hurt her) and all rinsed off and ready for her blow dry.
